PGe User Tips

• To get started: A print or digital only subscription is required to view PGe. If you’re not already logged in, you’ll need to sign in with the email and password you created when you registered on post-gazette.com. Please click “forget password” if you can’t remember your password.

• Device: Please use the latest version of Firefox or Chrome. The web version can only be viewed on a desktop or laptop. Please download the PGe app if you’re viewing PGe from a mobile or tablet device.

Below are a few common topics and tips on using PGe.

Click on the 'Menu' button in the top left hand corner of the screen. This will open the main navigation menu.

Once the menu is open you are presented with several options to navigate to different areas and features within PGe.

• Home Button - This will take you back to the front page at anytime.

• Table of content (TOC) Button - This will allow you to see the section list, pages in sections, and articles on pages.

• Pages Button - This will allow you to see all the pages in the currently selected edition.

• Editions Button - This will allow you to see all the editions for the last 30 days.

• Ads/Puzzles Button - This will allow you to view and download ads, puzzles, and inserts.

• Print Editions Button - This will allow you to print the current editions easily.

• Search Button - This will allow you to search today's edition, past editions, and our post-gazette website for any keywords to find a particular article(s).

• Settings Button - This will allow you to customize the menu and display layouts.

On the right side of each page you will see a magnifying glass with a '+' sign, click this icon to be able to zoom in and zoom out on the current page.

Yes, you can easily skip to the next section by clicking on the double arrow icon on the right side of the page.

You can flip through the pages by clicking on the single arrow icon on the right side of the page.

Click on an article of your choice.

When you click on an article you will see a expand icon, click on that icon to show the article menu.

• Table of content (TOC) Button - This will allow you to see the section list, pages in sections, and articles on pages.

• Zoom In - This will allow you to zoom in on the currently selected article.

• Zoom Out - This will allow you to zoom out on the currently selected article.

• Previous - This will allow you to flip to the previous article.

• Next - This will allow you to flip to the next article.

• Narrator - This will narrate the article you currently selected. 

• Print - This will allow you to print the article.

• Email - This will allow you to email the article.

• Settings - This will take you to the article settings where you can adjust the article menu layout.

If you are interested in having an article narrated. Open the article menu at the top of the article view.

Then click on the narrator button in the article menu. You will be able to pause and play at your own pace.

Click the 'Menu' button in the top left hand corner of the screen.

To download an edition, click on the 'Editions' button in the main menu.

In the editions list find the edition you want to download and click on the download icon.

To download a page(s), click on the 'Pages' button in the main menu.

In the pages list find the page or pages you want to download and click on the download icon. To download multiple pages, click on the pages checkbox and click 'Download Selected to Print' button.
